Patrick Thompson
​Originally from Wisconsin, he spent the early years of his career leading writing workshops with students from the public schools in Milwaukee. In 2014, he premiered his first musical, PASSING BY, which was featured in the Chicago and New York Musical Theatre Festivals. (CMTF, NYMF) He then moved to NYC to obtain a Master’s Degree in Musical Theatre Writing from NYU-Tisch. With his writing partner, David Lancelle, their new musical, PORTRAITS, premiered this past summer with Pink Umbrella Theater Company. With a grant from the Ruth Arts Foundation, he led a cohort of 8 writers from around the world to facilitate the creation of new accessible productions that were presented to the public this fall. Other works include KALEIDOSCOPE, NOBODY KNOWS, TESSERAE, JACK & JILL, I’M FINE (AND OTHER LIES), POSTCARDS FROM CONEY ISLAND and his freshman album, SUNFLOWER DAYS, which is available on all streaming platforms.
In NYC, he has worked with Columbia University, New York University, New York Theatre Workshop, Steps on Broadway, The 52nd St Project and many others. At Carnegie Hall, he writes and performs with their early childhood development and family programming. He works with New York City Center writing curriculum and bringing Encores into the public schools across the five boroughs with workshops and creative career residencies. As a musician he has performed across the states with his own bands as well as music directing for Tony-winner, Ali Stroker. He also plays harmonium and accordion with Grammy-winner, Falu, and her touring band.
